TWISTED MINDS, HIS AND MINE

One fateful day I dipped my feet
In your twisted swamp of words,
Did you know I will sink so deep
In your make believe world?

It all began with our diseased souls,
You told me the symptoms were same
Tell me, love, how’d I have known
You were playing a twisted game?

You spoke to me of sunshine bright
And nights of carefree bliss.
You told me stories of sweet Novembers
And balmy April mists!

You said let us blend our spirits,
“I will be within you while I cage you in me
We will be one and thereafter free”
Sigh! I never discredited your cogency!
Alas, I caught but a closer glimpse of your eyes
as I breathed my last as me,
I saw the angel, years-long damned
With a smile of an easy victory.

I laughed, for I found none but my half;
I have yearned for long to be whole.
Now no more will I feign an angel’s ploy
When I have longed for the devil’s soul.

Tell me, not in words, my lovely,
I know not what trick you played on me!
But know you must we are but one soul;
We could play this game for eternity!
